@BeeKeeper: Thanks! Yes, they (Independence Free) really nailed the acoustic guitar, didn't they? I just put a little bit of randomness of velocity into the pybuzz script, and out came all the nice fret noises, bends, etc. Other sounds in the free package are quite good as well, and the sample-player itself is quite full-featured. I will probably end up actually buying more instruments from them at some point ...
